Video game publisher Capcom has announced that it had a very good fiscal year, managing to grow both revenue and profit when compared to the same period, with Monster Hunter Portable 3rd being the best-performing title of the interval.

For the fiscal year that ended on March 31 Capcom says that it has managed to get revenue of 97.7 billion Yen, which is about 1.21 billion dollars at the current exchange rate, which is a 46 percent increase over the previous fiscal year.

The performance of the publisher has been even more impressive when it comes to the net profit, which went up to 7.8 billion Yen, the equivalent of 96 million dollars, which is 3.5 times more than the 2.2 billion Yen for fiscal 2010.

A portion of the results were linked to the arcade games and the mobile division that Capcom has, but the biggest slice of both revenue and profit was linked to the console and the handheld divisions.

In fiscal 2010 Capcom managed to have five titles that have sold more than 1 million units, something that never happened before in the history of the company.

The PlayStation Portable-based launch of Monster Hunter Portable 3rd has been the best performer for Capcom, managing to ship 4.6 million units only on the Japanese market, an impressive figure.

Monster Hunter 3rd could increase its sales numbers significantly if it arrives in North America and in Europe, although the interest in the genre is smaller on those markets.

Dead Rising 2 was also a hit, with 2.2 million copies sold since launch, followed by Marvel vs. Capcom 3, which is close behind at 2 million, Super Street Fighter IV, coming in with 1.6 million sales, and Lost Planet 2, which currently stands at 1.5 million copies shipped.

The problems with the Japanese economy and the disaster generated by the recent earthquake have pushed Capcom to project smaller sales and profits for the current fiscal year.
