Video game publisher Capcom has offered some new detail on Resident Evil 6, the next core game in the long-running zombie-powered series, admitting that the events of the game are all taking place during the year 2013 and offering some more information on the game setting.

The company also named a fictional town in China where much of the action will take place, saying that it will be called Lanshiang and will be somehow connected to a number of events from the past of Chris Redfield.

Capcom also talked about the yet-unnamed third main character of Resident Evil 6, saying that in 2012 he is a sort of mercenary working in Eastern Europe in the middle of a bloody conflict, interested more in making as much money as possible than in the moral dimension of his actions.

More information has also been offered on Helena Harper, the woman from the reveal trailer, who is in the process of transferring to the Secret Service and will be one of the bodyguards of the president, admitting responsibility for what happens to him.

The developers have also confirmed that Ingrid Hunningan, who fans of the series know from Resident Evil 4, will return for the new game in the role of Field Operations Support.

When it comes to enemies, the Capcom development team is innovating and will make sure that the normal zombies players encounter pose a challenge, by running, jumping and even using actual weapons against the player.

To counter the new threat, gamers will find that all the characters they control will be able to fire their weapons while moving, making the game faster and more engaging.

Another type of enemy introduced in Resident Evil 6 will be the J’avo, a hybrid monsters which understands human speech and has a very high aggression level.

Resident Evil 6 will be released on November 20 all over the world for the PlayStation 3 and the Xbox 360 with PC gamers set to get a version of the game at a later date.
