A couple of weeks ago we found out that Canon was preparing to announce a new high-end compact digital camera and the successor of PowerShot G1 X.

It seems that the new G1 X Mark II, or G2 X, will integrate a bigger 20.2MP sensor as well as Canon's DIGIC 6 image processor. Besides that, the upcoming model will also have a longer lens with a 35mm equivalent focal range of 24-120mm.

While previously the camera was rumored to be introduced at CP+ 2014, according to CanonRumors, the G1 X successor will be announced the week after CP+, on February 18.

The G2 X will also come with a 922k-dot 3-inch touch screen LCD, smaller and lighter body, GPS, and Wi-Fi support. The camera is expected to be available on market shelves late April / early May.
