Everyone's attention is turned towards this year's first important electronics show, CES 2014 in Las Vegas, where all major camera and optics manufacturer have already announced quite a few new products to be released later this year.

While the companies are busy presenting their latest camera and lens lineup additions, some of them have also found the time to bring new firmware updates to ensure their products are working at optimum parameters.

That being said, today Nippon camera and optics manufacturer Canon has revealed the availability of a new firmware update for its flagship digital SLR, the EOS-1D X. The fresh firmware version comes with quite a few new features, optimizations and bug fixes that will boost the camera's performance in various conditions.

With the new firmware v2.0.3, Canon tweaked the camera's tracking capability improving AF performance in low-light conditions when performing focusing before using the AI Servo AF mode.

Moreover, "AI Servo AF 2nd image priority" AF function has received an increased number of release parameters settings, improving AF tracking in low-light conditions as well as maintaining consistent high frame rates in burst shooting mode.

Thanks to the new update, you can now perform exposure compensation when using manual exposure and ISO Auto. Furthermore, the camera can now keep a constant exposure when the aperture value changes when zooming or changing lenses, thanks to a new function that alters the ISO or shutter speed in manual exposure.

Among other features worth mentioning, you can find improved AF point selection, new customization for exposure metering and AF controls and a new function that allows you to playback and review protected images only.

The Canon EOS-1D X firmware v2.0.3 also fixes an issue with the white balance that can be disturbed by the timing of the shutter release when using single shooting mode along with an E-TTL flash.
