Rogers, together with its subsidiary Fido, the only carriers to offer the iPhone 3G in Canada, will launch Apple's new handset starting 8 AM local time, in six Rogers Plus stores as well as in Fido's flagship store from Montreal. Also, both Fido and Rogers will offer a promotional data plan of 6GB per month, following a wave of protests from lots of Canadian users unhappy with the previously announced iPhone 3G plans.

Most users complained not only about the high taxes practiced by Rogers and Fido, but also about the fact that none of the plans included unlimited data transfers. Well, the new 6GB data plan is still a limited one, but it's nevertheless better than what was offered before, when the maximum amount of data announced to be included in a plan was of 2GB for $115 per month.

Until August 31 only, the 6GB offer is available at $30 per month and can be combined with any of Rogers' and Fido's voice plans (which cost extra cash). Of course, in order to be eligible for this data plan, you have to buy an iPhone 3G and sign a contract agreement for three years with any of the two carriers.

"Fido is excited to bring iPhone 3G to Canadians with the choice of even more data. iPhone 3G is the perfect device to complement our customers' urban lifestyle, with its amazing web browsing capabilities, iconic design and interface, and high speed network access," declared Sylvain Roy, Senior Vice President and General Manager at Fido.
