With animated wallpapers and more

The Android 2.1 operating system has finally arrived for Motorola Milestone owners living in Canada. After being delivered to DROID in the US and to Milestone in Europe, the software update is available for Canada as well, bringing those animated wallpapers and multiple screens to the device. A wide range of other enhancements are also present in the new OS flavor, including Google Maps updates, a free Facebook App and Widget, security fixes and more.

Here's what Motorola has to say about the wallpapers and screens included in the software update: “This additional wallpaper option enables you to select from a number of wallpapers that can move on your home screen<s>. A selection of animated wallpapers are bundled with the software upgrade – further wallpapers are available on the Android Market. The number of home screens you can have now also just got bigger – you can choose to have 3, 5, 7, or even 9 home screens – plenty of space for all your widgets and icons.”

The Android 2.1 software update for Motorola Milestone comes with updated Google Maps too, offering users the possibility to enjoy personalized suggestions based on their personal search history, or to sync starred items on Google Maps on their handset with maps.google.com via their computer. Not to mention that Google Maps in Android 2.1 offers support for multi-touch, yet another appealing feature for users.

Among the other enhancements included in the OS update, we can count: - Bluetooth support : support for Bluetooth headset multi function for initiating voice calls - Security: Prevents unauthorized pattern lock bypass, allows for PIN security and local device wipe following PIN error input - Music Player : Album art 3D gallery view supported in landscape orientation - Battery life: ongoing battery life optimization - Email account removal: Improvements to manual removal of email accounts.
