With Dynamics for retail?

Can Microsoft atone for the damage delivered by pop star Jessica Simpson to the Dallas Cowboys? The Redmond company has applauded a new deal inked with the Texas football team, touting that the Dallas Cowboys have selected Microsoft Dynamics as first-round draft pick. But, the entire deal is nothing more than a love triangle with Jessica Simpson in the mix. Microsoft has in fact managed to jump aboard with the Dallas Cowboys at a very unfavorable moment, as the team has been eliminated from the playoffs by the New York Giants. And there are those that blame the sudden end of the season for the Cowboys on the relationship between Tony Romo, the team's quarterback, and Jessica Simpson. With the emphasis placed on the fact that Simpson acted as a Jinx for the Cowboys. And while there is no more chances for the Cowboys to redeem themselves this season, the partnership inked with Microsoft over Dynamics for retail could prove a lucrative deal.

"Adopting a new retail system for the Cowboys is not a decision we reached lightly, and it was important that we go with a vendor that we knew would protect our investment for the long term. The Microsoft Dynamics for retail solution will provide the cohesive, scalable and flexible solution that we need as we look to open our new stadium beginning with the 2009 season, and home to Super Bowl XLV in 2011. Besides consolidating financials, the Microsoft Dynamics for retail solution provides the backbone for our retail store network as well as for additional Microsoft partner solutions we are looking to include in the stadium project", explained Pete Walsh, head of technology for the Dallas Cowboys.

At this point in time, it is too early to tell if the implementation of Microsoft Dynamics for retail, integrated as end-to-end business management solution into the infrastructure of the Dallas Cowboys' 35 retail outlets, will prove the right move for the team. Microsoft Dynamics for retail was introduced at National Retail Federation (NRF) Annual Convention & Expo as a solution designed to increase efficiency across the various key aspects of a business. As far as the Dallas Cowboys are concerned, Microsoft Dynamics for retail will serve to centralize and consolidate business data across what are currently 29 disparate outlets.

"Retailers are asking us to deliver comprehensive Microsoft Dynamics solutions that will improve their business, and we believe that this new solution will meet the diverse needs of specialty retailers. The Microsoft Dynamics for retail solution delivers ease of implementation, a reduced IT management footprint, a familiar, consistent user experience, and tight integration with existing Microsoft applications. These are the features that retailers today are calling for, and because the solutions are from Microsoft, retailers have the assurance that they're investing in a solution that not only meets their needs today, but will into the future", said Jeff McKee, director of Microsoft Dynamics industry product management at Microsoft.
