“Shrek Forever After,” the fourth and final installment of the “Shrek” franchise, will arrive on US screens at the end of this week, on Friday, May 21. The US premiere has already taken place the other day in Los Angeles, as JustJared can confirm, and saw star Cameron Diaz rocking an amazing red dress on the red (green) carpet.

Of course, the entire cast was present at the grand opening of the film, which will see the ogre Shrek battle middle life crisis and, hopefully, come out of it alright. However, the moment Diaz stepped foot on the green carpet, all eyes were on her – and it wasn’t only because she made a contrasting note with it, either. Always known for her incredible figure, the actress literally killed it in a very short and tight number.

“Cameron Diaz is red hot in Oscar de la Renta at the Los Angeles premiere of her new animated flick, Shrek Forever After, held at Gibson Amphitheatre on Sunday (May 16). ‘We get to take that journey again of finding that love [in the latest Shrek installment],’ the 37-year-old actress told JustJared on the green carpet. ‘You get to fall in love with Shrek and Fiona all over again’. Cam paired her ODLR vermillion double face wool crepe dress with Brian Atwood ‘Marlo’ pumps,” the aforementioned celebrity e-zine writes.

Even with Cameron looking this fabulous, the industry is wary about the odds of success of “Shrek 4.” When the movie screened back in April, reaction to is was far from what the movie studio expected, and definitely miles away from the kind of investment made in it. The Hollywood Reporter, for one, said this final installment should have never happened and that the Shrek story would have been better off if completely forgotten after “Shrek 3,” as we also reported at the time.

“Josh Klausner and Darren Lemke’s screenplay creates some fun with the personality and visual changes the familiar characters have undergone, but as with so many sequels to sequels, Shrek Forever After has lost much of the simple charm, humor and heart that marked its predecessors. No doubt looking to exploit the sensory stimulation offered by 3D, the filmmakers have ramped up the action. […] The 3D effects are undeniably impressive, but like many other examples of this increasingly popular form, some of the visual quality is sacrificed with the inevitable image darkening. The fact that much of the story is set in a literally bleaker landscape doesn’t help matters,” THR was saying back in April this year.
