Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 is going to introduce quite a lot of new things to the first-person shooter franchise, as developers Infinity Ward and Sledgehammer Games want to make the experience even more dynamic.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 is set to once again smash sales records later this year, when Activision will deploy it onto a variety of platforms for the tens of millions of loyal fans.

Before November, when the game is released, a few more details have popped up, courtesy of an OXM UK feature, in which Infinity Ward Creative Strategist Robert Bowling revealed two new features that are part of the upgraded Modern Warfare 3 experience.

The first is the presence of folding scopes, as players can now fit multiple sights onto their weapons, and switch them on or off on the fly, depending on the situation or their play style.

"Say you're picking guys in windows out long range in Manhattan, but then kick through a door and start clearing a building. You can now fold down your magnifying scope and already have a close-range optic on your gun - so now you're engaging guys close-target without having to change weapon," he said.

For those who want a more hands-on approach, Bowling also confirmed a new weapon, called the XM25 air burst grenade launcher or, simply put, the 'Punisher', which allows players to deploy timed grenades that take out enemies behind solid cover.

"It's great for when you're fighting in an urban environment. If a guy is behind a concrete barrier, you can laser-tag that cover point, fire over it and it will then program the round to explode one meter past it. Anyone hiding behind it will be showered down."

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 is set to have quite a lot of new features, as well as a revised killstreak system, which hasn't been detailed just yet.

The game is going to be released for platforms like the PC, PlayStation 3 or Xbox 360 on November 8.
