Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 was without a doubt the biggest game to hit last year, blowing away its competition and selling a huge amount of copies all around the world, as well as a lot of its downloadable map packs that were launched this year.

Now, just before Call of Duty: Black Ops will arrive on the market, a spin-off developed by another studio, Treyarch, Xbox Live is hosting a special promotion for the two Modern Warfare 2 map packs, which have seen their price cut in half.

Modern Warfare 2 has seen two map packs released up until now, the Stimulus and the Resurgence pack, each being available for a hefty 15 dollars or 1200 MS Points and both were timed exclusives for the Xbox 360 platform.

Now, the few players that put off purchasing the packs can do so for just 600 MS points, thanks to Microsoft's new offer.

You should act fast though, as the offer is only available until Monday, October 11, and afterward the price will be once again a full 1200 MS points for each of the packs.

Both DLC packs add five new maps to the Modern Warfare 2 multiplayer mode, three all new ones, and two remakes of classic ones from the original Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 1, which was released back in 2007.

The Stimulus package adds the new Bailout, Storm and Salvage, as well as the Crash and Overgrown remakes.

The Resurgence pack has the Carnival, Trailer Park and Fuel, as well as the Strike and Vacant remakes.

Both broke Xbox Live records when they were released by Activision this year, and with their price slashed in half this week, will no doubt improve on their their presence.

If you missed out the first time on the new Modern Warfare 2 packs, then act now and buy them half off.
