A new poll that sampled more 1,500 gamers and their partners suggests that the Call of Duty franchise is the video game intellectual property which is most likely to be responsible for creating problems between couples.

The poll was conducted by OnePoll.com and only took in answers from gamers who were willing to disclose information.

10 percent of those who answered say that they have skipped at least one date or have rejected an intimate encounter because they needed to play a video game while 5 percent have said that gaming has lead to breaking off a relationship.

A staggering 70% of partners have said that the time spent playing games has annoyed them at least at some point.

20 percent of the men said that they gamed for ten or more hours in a week and it seems that partners are actually jealous when it comes to all this time spend, in some ways, outside the relationship.

The list of video game which do the most damage to relationships in full includes:

1. Call of Duty 2. Football Manager 3. Grand Theft Auto 4. FIFA 5. Medal of Honor 6. Halo 7. Super Mario Brothers 8. Gran Turismo 9. Mario Kart 10. Guitar Hero 11. Assassins Creed 12. Pro Evolution Soccer 13. Resident Evil 14. World of Warcraft 15. F1 16. Red Dead Redemption 17. Need for Speed 18. Fallout 19. Gears of War 20. Angry Birds

A spokesperson from OnePoll has said “It seems like a games console often means there are three people in a relationship. ‘It’s a bit sad if the virtual world is taking precedence over the real world.”

It's interesting to note that Football Manager is the second most damaging game to a relationship, considering that it's the kind of subdued management experience which is not commonly associated with addiction.
