Call of Duty: Black Ops on the PC has just been patched, thanks to a new update released by its developer, Treyarch, through Valve's Steam digital content distribution platform.

Black Ops was eagerly awaited by millions of gamers around the world, but PC and PlayStation 3 owners were disappointed by lots of glitches and lag throughout the single- and the multiplayer modes of the title.

Now, thanks to the increased flexibility of the Steam platform, Treyarch, the studio responsible for Call of Duty: Black Ops, has just released the first patch for the title, which will address some of the complaints filed by PC owners.

According to the patch news on Steam, the update seems to be addressed to the multiplayer mode, but lots of reports are coming in that the single-player portion of Black Ops has also been improved significantly.

Here's what Steam revealed about the patch: Call of Duty: Black Ops - Multiplayer -Friends fix for join in progress and Friends tab in server browser -Performance improvement for dual and quad core systems

It seems that the performance improvement spans to the single-player portion of the game, as lots of users are now saying that the lag they experienced in the campaign has been completely fixed.

For those not following the Call of Duty: Black Ops scandal, just as the game was released, PC users, no matter what their configuration, flooded Treyarch with complaints about freezes in the single-player campaign and lag in the multiplayer, even though the Internet connection was working fine.

While this new patch seems to have fixed the PC version of Black Ops, the PlayStation 3 one is still plagued by issues, as we reported yesterday.
