Call of Duty: Black Ops, the first person shooter blockbuster from developer Treyarch and publisher Activision Blizzard, has managed to fend off some very touch new opposition in order to keep the number one position in the United Kingdom video game chart for the previous week, just as it was reported that the title managed to break records for revenue generated in five days on sale.

Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood from publisher Ubisoft has been the best of the new release duo, managing to take second spot as it offers the first multiplayer based experience in the already very successful franchise.

Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit, the driving simulator created by developer Criterion and published by Electronic Arts, has also done pretty well coming in at number three as gamers are attracted to the way the developers bring the series back to its cops and speeders roots.

FIFA 11 from EA Sports has not managed to hold the line against the new releases but it still sits in fourth place, coming down from second, while Just Dance 2, the Ubisoft published sequel to the casual gaming experience, is down in fifth place.

Wii Party from Nintendo has managed to break through into the top ten again, landing in six coming from 12 while seventh place has been taken over by Wii Sports Resort which comes from 19 to see the biggest jump of the week.

Professor Layton and the Lost Future, also from Nintendo, sits in eight place coming from sixth while Kinect Sports from Mirosoft, the companion game for the new motion tracking system, has fallen from fourth to ninth place.

New Super Mario Bros for the Wii closes down the top ten.

The Sims 3 from Electronic Arts, Star Wars: The Force Unleashed II and Fallout: New Vegas have fallen out of the top ten.
