14 DAY TRIAL // The huge number of Call of Duty: Black Ops players will be thrilled to hear that this weekend rewards their online activity with double XP on all platforms.
Call of Duty: Black Ops is the best selling game of all time, and with the First Strike downloadable content pack reaching the PlayStation 3 this week, after the Xbox 360 got it last month, Treyarch, the game's developer, has decided to reward players with a special bonus.
Between today, March 4, at approximately 10am PST and until Monday, March 7, at 8am PST, there will be a special double XP weekend on all platforms, meaning the PC, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and Nintendo Wii.
Treyarch is also reminding Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 owners to buy the new First Strike downloadable content pack which adds four new maps, Berlin Wall, Discovery, Stadium and Kowloon, as well as a new scenario for the zombie cooperative mode, Ascension, to the regular selection of maps for the Black Ops multiplayer.
The game has just received a new patch, taking it to version 1.07, on the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 platforms, so if you want to take advantage of the double XP weekend, you're going to have to update your game.
Before the special deal starts, Activision, the game's publisher, has once more boasted its impressive sales, saying that Call of Duty: Black Ops is currently the number one best-selling Playstation 3 game ever launched.
No actual numbers were given, but, seeing as how Black Ops broke sales records since its release in November, Activision doesn't even need to back up its claims.
Treyarch has also emphasized how the First Strike DLC map pack will attract all of the online gamers on the PlayStation 3.
"The First Strike map pack significantly expands the intense experience for the millions of fans enjoying Call of Duty: Black Ops on the PlayStation 3 every day," said Treyarch studio head Mark Lamia. "Across each of First Strike's multiplayer maps and the newest Zombie level, we have created unique experiences that will appeal to everyone playing online in the PSN Call of Duty community around the world."
