Call of Duty: Black Ops is set to receive a brand new downloadable map pack, in the form of the Annihilation DLC, which has been announced officially by Treyarch, the game's developer, and Activision, its publisher.

Call of Duty: Black Ops set new world records in terms of sales, becoming one of the best-selling games of all time and the most successful entertainment property in the last few years.

This didn't stop Treyarch and Activision from trying to squeeze out more money from those who bought Black Ops, though, as two downloadable map packs, First Strike and Escalation were released this year.

Now, a third piece of DLC has been officially confirmed, with the Annihilation map pack coming on June 28 to Call of Duty: Black Ops on the Xbox 360, and then, after a month or so, for the PlayStation 3 and PC.

The news was made official by Treyarch studio head Mark Lamia, who revealed the first details about the maps that will be included in the Annihilation Black Ops DLC.

"With Annihilation, Black Ops fans will get four exciting and unique multiplayer settings with Hangar 18, Drive-In, Silo and Hazard. Players will also enjoy an all-new Zombies experience, Shangri-La, an exotic and mysterious map filled with deadly traps, dark secrets and innovative gameplay that will challenge even the most daring Zombie hunters."

We already knew about the Annihilation DLC, as its existence was leaked yesterday and earlier today through two photos of retail posters containing the names of the maps as well as the name of the DLC and its release date.

No other details were given just yet, but expect plenty of new information in the following days.

Look forward to the Call of Duty: Black Ops Annihilation DLC for the Xbox 360 on June 28, which will no doubt cost 1200 MS Points ($15).
