A new update for Black Ops 2 adds a mysterious link

Although Activision usually launched Call of Duty title in Q4, it's not too early for the company to start teasing a new game in the series.

While we already know that this year's Call of Duty game will be developed by Treyarch, it's a bit too early to talk about a tentative release date.

However, Activision might have already started to tease the next title in the franchise, Call of Duty: Black Ops 2. The information hasn't been confirmed by the publisher or developer, so we recommend our readers to take it with a grain of salt.

A video recently published by Drift0r shows that some images inside Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 have been altered to show a logo in the form of a ghost.

This is Snapchat's logo, a cross-platform instant messenger that's available on all major mobile platforms, including Android and iOS. So, if you have a smartphone, you should install Snapchat if you're a Call of Duty fan.

Black Ops 2 has been recently updated on consoles

Earlier today, Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 received a small update on consoles, which coincides with the moment these altered images appeared in the game.

The Snapchat logo looks like a QR code, which sends you to a link if you read it. The link adds the “callofduty” account to your Snapchat's friend list possibly in order to receive the latest information on anything related to the game.

Activision wouldn't normally advertise Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 through Snapchat links, but the company may start a viral campaign for Black Ops 3.

We're not sure how this will be done and when it starts, but we expect more details on Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 to start popping up in the next couple of months.

For the time being, the altered images only appear in the console version of Call of Duty: Black Ops 2, so you won't be able to see them on PC yet. What do you make of it?
