The big reveal linked to Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 made at E3 2015 is that the company will significantly change the core mechanics of the multiplayer mode, with a new emphasis on movement and dynamic situations that might come as a surprise for some long-term fans of the franchise.

But the development team at Treyarch and publisher Activision have also revealed that, for the first time in the history of the series, they are making sure that up to four gamers can join forces in order to tackle the core campaign in a cooperative manner.

A new video from the developers features Jason Blundell, the game director in charge of it and the zombies mode, talking about the decision to introduce the brand new feature and about how it is implemented.

It seems that Treyarch is trying to make sure that joining and leaving a session is as smooth as possible and that it delivers a level of difficulty that will encourage all those involved to try and actually help each other in order to progress.

It's unclear how many of those who actually play the single-player side of a Call of Duty title are interested in getting friends involved.

Traditionally, the series has been known for the long-term appeal of its multiplayer, which has been the engine that has driven sales for the past few years.

Recently, the company showed the core elements that will make both Prophet and Nomad interesting to play in multiplayer.

The idea is to add more structure to the modes and to give gamers more choices when it comes to their strategies during combat.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 is already being criticized by some gamers for coming to close to Halo in terms of core gameplay.

During the E3 2015 press conference from Sony, the platform holder also announced that all downloadable content for the shooter would be first offered on the PlayStation 4 and the PS3.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 will be launched on the PC, the Xbox One from Microsoft, the PlayStation 4 from Sony and older home consoles on November 6 of this year.
