The development team at Sledgehammer Games and publisher Activision aim to introduce a number of futuristic elements in the upcoming Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare and that includes a series of vehicles that are based on current designs but use tech that’s not yet fully developed.

Gamers will quickly get to use one of the most interesting ones, the hover-powered bike, which will be involved in a high speed chase through the flooded streets of Detroit in 2054.

According to Game Informer, Sledgehammer Games has studied real-world motorcycles and snowmobiles and used them as the starting point for its hover design but then added a windshield made of smart glass, which allows the player to project his user interface outward.

The vehicle also includes angular armor panels, which can shift on the bike when it moves in order to better deflect enemy fire, a feature that is being shared with the most advanced exoskeletons designed for human use.

Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare will continue the tradition of the franchise and will include a veritable parade of military hardware and Sledgehammer Games has a lot of freedom when it comes to their design.

The first-person shooter will feature mine resistance and ambush protected transports, powerful tanks, helicopters, planes and a gigantic aircraft carrier, all of them based on current designs but with improved features like angled armor, smarter computers and vertical take-off features.

The futuristic technology used by the title will not obscure the gritty nature of the world it explores and the many threats that gamers will have to deal with as they explore the narrative constructed by Sledgehammer Games.

The story will be centered around a Private Military Company, represented in-game by a character played by Kevin Spacey, who launches a powerful strike on all national armies at the same time.

There’s no connection planned with either Black Ops or Modern Warfare.

The studio has explained that it will try to keep the core ideas of the franchise alive, while adding a number of new innovative gameplay mechanics for both single and multiplayer.

Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare will be launched on the PC, the PlayStation 4 from Sony, the Xbox One and current-gen consoles on November 4 of this year.

Activision has said that the launch of the game will mark the shift to a three-year development cycle for all other titles associated with the series.
