Sledgehammer Games, the developer behind the upcoming Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare, has confirmed that it's written the story of the new shooter around Hollywood actor Kevin Spacey, who brings to life Jonathan Irons, the leader of a Private Military Corporation.

Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare was presented to the world earlier this year and made quite an impression through a video that showcased the story and the main antagonist, Jonathan Irons, played by Hollywood actor Kevin Spacey.

Afterwards, developer Sledgehammer rolled out plenty of interesting details about how players would interact with Irons and how they'd work for him as part of his Private Military Corporation (PMC).

Now, Sledgehammer's Michael Condrey reveals some more details about the partnership the studio has with Spacey and how the role and the whole story were written around him.

"The story was written with Kevin in mind," Condrey tells GRTV. "And really from day one the narrative was built around him as Jonathan Irons. And then the chance for Activision to say 'if that's the character, go get him, bring him onboard' that was amazing for us."

Condrey also mentions that Spacey was thrilled about the partnership, as he wants to reach out new fans through experiments like the House of Cards show on streaming giant Netflix.

"And really, Call of Duty as a place for him to embrace new fans. I mean he's cutting edge with Netflix and House of Cards. Like he's willing to take some chances to reach new fans and so awesome opportunity for best in class Hollywood performance to come to Call of Duty. He's been excited, it's been a pleasure to work with him. It's really been great for the game."

Sledgehammer's Glen Schofield also says that Spacey didn't just lend his voice to the character of Irons in Advanced Warfare. He performed the full capture experience and even contributed to the script.

"It's not green screen, it's performance capture," he adds. "So he's in a full suit, he's got the camera on and he's got sensors on his face and they are acting. Just as they would in Hollywood on a set there. He comes on and he'll add to the script. And he'll add to the dialogue, which has been really, almost magical for us."

Advanced Warfare is set to debut on November 4 worldwide for the PC, PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, and Xbox One platforms.
