Followed by Grand Theft Auto V and FIFA 15

Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare has managed to retain the number one position in the United Kingdom video game chart for the week that ended on December 27, which means that the first-person shooter from developer Sledgehammer Games and publisher Activision has managed to be the best-selling title for Christmas week, after it also dominated the run-up to the holiday.

The series is traditionally used as the general purpose gift for video game lovers each year and its sales were probably improved by the fact that the two companies ran a number of promotions and offered gamers chances to pick up exclusive content by playing.

At the moment, Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare is getting ready to receive the Havoc downloadable content pack, which will introduce new maps and weapons while also activating the Exo Zombies mode, where gamers need to work together to take out waves of undead enemies.

Grand Theft Auto V, despite the fact that its current release is only aimed at the Xbox One and the PlayStation 4, continues to perform very well, and has managed to climb one position to reach second place, according to UKIE.

The open world title from Rockstar will probably get a boost to its own numbers in late January, when it is also expected to arrive on the PC.

Despite the special Christmas promotions announced by EA Sports, FIFA 15 has slid down one position and is now in the final place on the podium, which is still a solid performance considering that the football sim was first introduced in late September.

The best of the rest

Despite its problems and the fact that Ubisoft has not yet finished patching the title, Assassin’s Creed Unity is in fourth place for the week, up one position, and is followed by other two titles from the same French publisher, Far Cry 4, showing how a solid launch and an open world experience can create a successful experience, and The Crew, which is focused on racing and friends working together.

DriveClub, another title with problems when it was first introduced and which received a lot of patches, has made a comeback and reached seventh place.

The two versions of Minecraft are in eighth and in ninth place.

The United Kingdom top ten is closed down by LEGO Batman 3: Beyond Gotham from Warner Bros.
