Video game developer Sledgehammer Games and publisher Activision are announcing that they are adding the Drift map which was introduced in the Havoc downloadable content pack Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare to the rotation for the coming 2015 Championship event.

The new environment takes gamers to a ski resort somewhere in the Rocky Mountains, with a design which includes three attack lanes and plenty of opportunities for good teams to create and deploy interesting strategies.

The official announcement about the coming Championship for Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare states that "Here are the maps and game modes that will be changed with the addition of Drift: Bio Lab/Capture the Flag will be replaced with Drift/Capture the Flag and Recovery/Search & Destroy will be replaced with Drift/Search & Destroy."

The competition is set to take place between March 27 and 29 in Los Angeles and will involve the best eSports players in the world that have specialized in the shooter from Sledgehammer Games.

The title of World Champion and the 1 million dollar (810,000 Euro) prize pool should ensure that the level of competition is very high.

Gamers who remain at home will be able to watch top level Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare action on Twitch.

Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare is getting ready for Ascendance DLC

The big coming event will be interesting when it comes to exploring strategies and getting to know the best players, but the community is currently eagerly awaiting to hear more information about the new downloadable content pack for the shooter, Ascendance.

At the moment, those who have a Season Pass can use weapons linked to the new pack on the Xbox One and the Xbox 360, but gamers want to hear about an actual launch date for it and details on the maps set to be included.

Ascendance will include four new environments to explore and a new episode linked to Exo Zombies, and an accompanying patch will also deliver tweaks to existing weapons and balance.

It will probably be launched in early April on the Xbox One and the 360, and gamers on other platforms on which the Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare is available will have to wait about one month to get access to the same content.
