The details of 1,800 employees of the California State University at Sacramento may have been compromised after hackers breached the organization’s computer systems.

According to CBS, the university discovered the breach around August 23. The breached server contained the information of around 1,800 university staff members, including social security numbers and driver’s license numbers.

Only one month later, Sacramento State determined that the information might have been accessed.

On Monday, the organization finally started notifying impacted individuals. The university’s representatives claim that it took them three weeks to prepare the letters.

Fortunately, there’s no evidence that the information has been used for identity theft. However, that doesn’t mean the affected employees shouldn’t be concerned. Hopefully, they’ll keep a close eye on their credit statements and spot potential suspicious transactions in case they occur.
