Caitlyn Jenner is a free woman now. Formerly known as Bruce Jenner, Caitlyn made her debut this week on the cover of Vanity Fair, which marked the first time she was seen in public as a woman. Hot on the heels of this release, E! has dropped the first trailer for the upcoming docuseries I Am Cait.

The docuseries airs starting July 26, and the first teaser offers a look at Caitlyn as she steps out in the world for the first time as herself. You can find it embedded below.

I Am Cait will document transition from Bruce to Caitlyn

However, the bigger reveal in the trailer is that of the name of the series, I Am Cait. E! confirmed the project shortly after the Diane Sawyer April interview, in which Bruce came out as a transwoman, but it never revealed the title.

We know now that they were holding back, waiting for Caitlyn to announce her female identity on the cover of Vanity Fair.

In the trailer, Caitlyn talks to the camera about what it means to her to be out in the open with the secret she’d been keeping for decades, and how amazing it was for her to get her makeup done professionally for the first time.

This helped her understand the pressure a modern woman is constantly under, which dictates that she look flawless at all times, with a face full of makeup that, preferably, appears as natural as possible.

In another shot, Caitlyn is driving her car, accompanied either by a friend or a family member. She’s happy she’s off the property and into “the real world” and she muses that it would be nice if she could, one day, walk out like this and feel “normal.”

The trailer ends with her saying that she is “the new normal.”

What’s in a name?

Speaking of the name Caitlyn, the Internet has made a lot of fuss over Jenner’s decision to not name herself something that starts with a “K,” which is a family tradition in the Kardashian - Jenner clan. The only other member whose name doesn’t start with a “K” is Kris’ only son, Robert Kardashian Jr., Rob.

Caitlyn tells Vanity Fair, in a new excerpt from her upcoming 22-page story, that she had settled on this name a long time ago, inspired by Miss America pageants. Before that, she’d been partial to Heather, but she eventually settled for Caitlyn with the help of a good friend.

Then, when it came to going public with her female identity, she hesitated between Caitlyn and Kaitlyn. She eventually opted for the former to distance herself from the image of the family, to make her own mark.

The Internet saw in that her biggest “to hell with you” to ex-wife Kris.
