Polish developers NoWay Studio have decided to bring the first person shooting action to the Nintendo DS, so they have started to work on CORE, which promises to become instantly familiar to all those who love classic FPS games - single player and team based. At the moment, we only have some really good looking concept art, but we'll keep our opinions for ourselves, at least until some gameplay footage is shown.

You will take the role of a marine sent into a CORE lab complex built where a meteor crashed 20 years before the action starts. All the research in the lab was going as planned, until two weeks ago when all contact was lost. As you can imagine, you were sent there to investigate and you'll have to do so by exploring lots of offices, above and underground. Again, as you can imagine, you will eventually find out that mankind is under threat and that you have to shoot everything that moves.

So, even though the story is not a great one, we could still have a great game if it's done right. And developers NoWay Studio promise that they will do it right - eleven months ago, they started to work on CORE and kept pushing the Nintendo DS' limits with full 3D animations and visuals. They also promise a true next generation title that will bring a FPS experience familiar to PC gamers, which means that we might really have a fantastic title to come.

Every level will be introduced by an in-game movie (cutscene) setting your objective and entertaining you with some great visuals. Also, once you're into the action, you'll have various ways of completing the levels, which means several paths to follow, hidden places to be found and different weapons. And, since it seems that the game will have no multiplayer features, its replayability will make it a truly "most-wanted" DS title.
