Over the weekend, Trent Mays and Ma’lik Richmond were found guilty and sentenced for raping a 16-year-old girl in what is known as the Steubenville Rape case. CNN had plenty of compassion for the rapists.

The video above is the Breaking News segment they did after the boys were sentenced, with Candy Crowley and Poppy Harlow showing plenty of compassion for the rapists, but absolutely none for the victim.

The moment the segment aired, angry voices online started saying these two women should know better than to use the “too much alcohol / unhappy childhood” excuse for the brutal assault, and just stick to the reporting.

Or, if they really wanted to talk about how the boys’ promising lives had been turned upside down by the verdict, they might as well have focused on the victim as well: she too must have had a promising future ahead of her because she was traumatized for life.

Because they didn’t, they came across like rape apologists.

Check out the video above and see if you agree with those criticizing the two CNN reporters.
