Taylor Swift brought her A-game to last night’s CMA Awards 2013, held at the Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, Tennessee, both on the red carpet and on the stage. Above is her performance of “Red.”

During the awards ceremony, hosted by the ever-charming Carrie Underwood and Brad Paisley, Taylor was honored with the Pinnacle Award and, to mark such an important occasion, she also prepared a special live rendering of her hit.

For that, she required some help from country legends Vince Gill and Alison Krauss. Taylor told reporters before the performance to expect something different from the studio version, and she wasn’t lying.

“I knew that in order to showcase a different, more emotional part of the song, I wanted to bring in artists who completely bring their own flare to everything… Vince Gill and Alison Krauss, they’re two of my biggest heroes,” she also said.

Since she grew up with their music, hoping to one day enjoy a career as successful as theirs, she described getting to share the stage with them as “life-alteringly cool.”
