Country singer LeAnn Rimes flipped out on reporters on the red carpet at the Country Music Association Awards 2010 the other night, furious that people were still talking about her reported engagement to Eddie Cibrian.

According to Ted Casablanca of E! Online’s The Awful Truth, the only reason why Rimes is so upset that the story of the engagement got out (E! broke the news) is because she wanted to sell it to celebrity magazines as an exclusive.

The singer, on the other hand, is adamant that it’s not so: she’s just mad that people are still talking about it even though she already released a statement calling all rumors saying so bogus.

“Like, I’m standing on the truth! That’s what we should title the last two weeks. I’m not engaged!” the singer “spewed” to reporters on the red carpet at the awards gala.

The fact that E! stood by the original story of the engagement, saying their source was very reliable and adding that Rimes did not own up to it because she wanted to get exclusives from magazines, is also very enraging, the singer fumed.

“And then saying that we’re trying to sell the story? No one buys interviews anyway. I mean, I say it and people [still] believe that we are [engaged], but how long are we going to wait before we tell someone? It’s just complete insanity,” Rimes said.

“It’s ridiculous. It’s hysterical. I have friends and my mom calling me and I’m like I’ve had it. My friends and my parents think that everyone knows before they do and that is just not the way that it should be,” the star continued to rage.

Even though both LeAnn Rimes and Eddie Cibrian are furious at E! for covering the engagement story – for no other reason than that it’s untrue, they say – they don’t plan on taking any action against the e-zine, other than publicly lambast it whenever they can.
