At CES 2015, LG had the G Flex 2 to showcase to the masses, but secretly the company put on display a new concept phone only VIP eyes got to glance at.

Korean website inews24 apparently managed to snap a picture of an LG smartphone prototype that looks to us to be very similar to the Samsung Galaxy Edge meaning its display is curved on the side, making up an extra mini screen which shows notifications.

The handset is being touted as the HD Active Bending phone and boasts a 6-inch P-AMOLED display that, unlike the Galaxy Edge, can bend over both edges on either side.

Since LG’s gadget is a prototype, the screen resolution is 1280 x 720 pixels which is a lot less than what the Galaxy Edge monster brings to the table with 2560 x 1400 resolution.

Speaking of which, yesterday we told you one LG official said the company was planning to heavily experiment with its upcoming G4 flagship, in order to make sure the phone actually offers something unique, compared to the competition.

Could it be possible that the G4 will end up sporting a dual-curved display? At this point, this is a realistic hypothesis, but we’ll have to wait until LG discloses more information.

It appears that curved displays are becoming a trend in mobile computing, so we should expect to see more and more models talking advantage of this setup to be unveiled soon.
