The new interface is finally making inroads

The USV Type-C connector will slowly replace the regular Universal Serial Bus connectors whether we like it or not. ADATA decided to preempt any issues by fully supporting it from the onset.

Oh, you can be sure that motherboards will keep offering USB 3.0 and even USB 2.0 ports for a while, but laptops will phase them out faster due to space availability issues.

That means there is plenty of incentive to make sure that the USB Type-C bi-directional port integrates smoothly in existing product lines.

To do its part, ADATA has created the SE700 portable SSD, which uses the USB 3.1 technology in the USB Type-C connector, and its 10 Gbps bandwidth, to move data faster than SATA ones.

More precisely, the drive can transfer files at up to 819 MB/s (read) and up to 839 MB/s (write).

Then again, this can' reliably be called an SSD, since it's actually a RAID 0 array of two different ones working in concert.

The ADATA SE700 Portable SSD ships with a piano black case with chrome accents and will show up in stores son, at which point we'll finally know the capacity options and how much money we're expected to pay. No doubt a whole lot, but that's always the case for solid state drives.
