Buzz for Guillermo del Toro’s “Pacific Rim,” a film that promises to be big in every sense of the word, has been extremely mixed. If you’re among those who still have doubts about giving it a try because it’s too Transformers-like, perhaps the brand new trailer will help to make up your mind.

It’s an alternate version that just premiered at the Consumer Electronics Show 2013 in Las Vegas and, unlike the first official version, it includes more footage with actual humans.

The structure is the same as with the first trailer, but this one replaces the monsters with the humans who will be powering the robots that will fight the monsters. Now there’s an image to wrap your brains around.

“Pacific Rim” stars Charlie Hunnam, Idris Elba, Ron Perlman, Robert Kazinsky, Max Martini, Larry Joe Campbell, Brad William Henke and Diego Klattenhoff, and will be out in 3D on July 12.
