T-Mobile USA is the first North American carrier that managed to successfully collaborate with Nokia to bring customers a Windows Phone device at competitive prices, the Lumia 710.

The carrier confirmed last month that Nokia Lumia 710 was expected to hit shelves on January 11 for only $49.99 on a two-year service plan.

Today, at the International Consumer Electronics Show, Nokia announced the availability of the Lumia 710 in the United States. In addition, the Finnish company unveiled its third Windows Phone device, the Nokia Lumia 900, which will be exclusively available via AT&T.

Although Nokia already has partnerships with two major US-based carriers, T-Mobile USA and AT&T, the company’s CEO, Stephen Elop stated that Nokia had no plans to collaborate with other operators in the country for the release of another LTE-enabled smartphone.

This means that we won’t see a Verizon Lumia device with LTE support anytime soon. On the other hand, Elop said that the company planned to compensate by delivering more unlocked variants of Nokia Lumia 900.

Tagged as the most affordable smartphone in the Lumia series, the device comes with a more than decent 3.7-inch capacitive touchscreen with 480 x 800 pixels resolution, which is based on the company’s ClearBlack technology.

Furthermore, T-Mobile’s Nokia Lumia 710 is equipped with a 1.4 Ghz single core Qualcomm MSM8255 Snapdragon processor, which is complemented by an Adreno 205 graphics processing unit. This is the same type of processor that powers the other two Lumias as well.

Unlike the Lumia 900 which comes with dual cameras, the Lumia 710 sports only a 5-megapixel rear camera with autofocus, LED flash and HD (720p) video recording capabilities.

There’s only 8GB of internal memory and 512MB of RAM, but an additional 25GB of storage is available via SkyDrive cloud storage service.

Obviously, the smartphone runs Microsoft latest Windows Phone 7.5 Mango operating system and comes pre-loaded with several interesting apps and services, including Nokia Drive, Facebook, Gmail, Exchange (Outlook), Twitter and more.
