Dark? Definitely! Gruesome? Not really! High-tech! You bet! I guess this could be a pretty neat description of what the Mako 2.1 sound system from Razer is all about... but I just need more words for this piece of news. Well, again, from the biggest event of this year's beginning, the Consumer Electronic Show 2008: Razer presented their new desktop sound system, codenamed Mako.[admark=1]

The first notable thing about the Razer Mako it has been developed with THX and thus it came to be a high-tech sound system with capabilities far beyond what the eye meets.

This sound system benefits from the latest HD technologies as far as amplifiers and drivers are concerned; not only we're dealing with a bi-amp architecture but with omnidirectional sound reproduction via the THX Ground Plane; the proper signal amplification is made at studio-level standards for the most realistic and accurate acoustics.

The THX Ground Plane eliminates the desktop-bounce distortions by actually using the support surface (the desktop, in our case) as a dispersion plate for a 4D (360-degree) sound spread, obtaining an even sound field with a broader sweet spot and a more immersive acoustic experience. The HD-class amplification provides dynamic power management and dramatically reduces clipping and distortions, letting you enjoy more of the total output; the ClassHD amping is entirely DSP-controlled and this way, the 300W total power is better administered with diverse sources such as music (via aux in), movie soundtracks or gaming.

The Razer Mako has a pod-like all-in-one remote control with touch-sensitive LED indicators and dial, offering you a very visual representation of the volumes; the satellites blast 50W each while the subwoofer delivers a blasting 200W power for a rich and thunderous experience. This amazing THX 2.1 system will be available worldwide from January 2008 for $399 (US) and EUR 399, in Europe.

We are just a few, but there are many of you, Softpedia users, out there. That's why we thought it would be a good idea to create an email address for you to help us a little in finding gadgets we missed. Interesting links are bound to be posted with recognition going mainly to those who submit. The address is .
