While showcasing its products at the 2008 International Consumer Electronics Show, SanDisk has official announced capacity increases for two of its most popular flash-based digital media players.

The Sansa Clip player will move to a top capacity of 4 GB from a previous 2GB one, while the Sansa View will jump to 32 GB from a top capacity of 16GB.

The small-sized Sansa Clip is said to run 15 hours on its rechargeable battery. Its design line features a stylish silver casing and an elegant mirror finish on the front, where they embed an OLED screen display.

As for the second upgraded player, the Sansa View comes enhanced with a 2.4 inch TFT color screen, a 320 x 240 resolution and it's said to hold up to 48 two-hour movies or 8,000 songs. In addition, the player gets powered by a long-lasting lithium ion battery, capable of providing up to 35 hours of audio content or 7 hours of video content playback. You might also want to know the Sansa View has a built-in support for various file formats like: MPEG4, WMV and H.264 video ones.

"As a world leader in the design and production of flash memory, SanDisk continues to meet or beat the competition in raising capacities of our Sansa digital media players - giving people the freedom to carry more entertainment with them wherever they go - while maintaining prices that consumers find compelling," said Eric Bone, vice president of marketing for the Audio & Video Business Unit at SanDisk.

"The 4GB Sansa Clip, for example, can store about 100 albums, giving users enough choices for any mood or situation. The 32GB Sansa View can hold an assortment of videos, so users don't have to decide in advance which one or two digital movies or personal videos to bring with them," he added.

The lightweight Sansa Clip comes with a clip that makes it attachable to clothing and other accessories. The clip is detachable, so the device can become even smaller when the clip isn't needed. The Sansa View can display JPEG photos and its memory can be boosted up via the built-in microSD/microSDHC card slot. By adding SanDisk's 8GB microSDHC card, the internal capacity of the new 32GB Sansa View increases to 40GB.

Both Sansa Clip and Sansa View share the same support for music services and audio formats like: MP3, WMA, WAV and Audible audio books, the same recording option, FM radio capabilities and accessories.

As for their pricing and availability details, Sansa Clip continues to be available in 1GB capacity with an MSRP of $39.99 and 2GB capacity with an MSRP of $59.99. The 4GB Sansa Clip is expected to be available in February in the United States with a MSRP of $79.99.
