But it's also got several other surprises in store

Both LG and Philips are listed in the top 5 of the world's most prolific LCD manufacturers, so it's actually not a very big surprise that the two companies' joint venture, LG.Philips LCD, came quite prepared at this year's CES, bringing along a very large number of innovative devices. However, it's not the number of products per se that really draws the attention to the company's offering, but rather the specific division imposed by the company, namely into four separate "technology zones".

Thus, first of all, there's the Public Display Technology Zone, which includes public display products for both indoor and outdoor usage. In this specific area, the company has announced what they tout to be the world's largest 52-inch Full HD multi-touch screen LCD, the world's largest and the highest resolution 47-inch triple-view LCD, a 47-inch double-sided LCD, a 42-inch transflective LCD for outdoor displays, as well as a whopping 84-inch multi-vision multi-touch LCD for interactive public displays.

In the Flexible Display Technology Zone, LG.Philips has announced a full lineup of products, ranging in size from 4- to 14.3-inches and available in both color and monochrome. This family includes 10.1-inch flexible display for E-paper, 12.1-inch monochrome flexible display for E-paper and 14.3-inch color flexible display for E-paper (both of them labeled as "world's highest resolution"), as well as a 4-inch flexible AM OLED display. I won't go into any details regarding this particular type of display, but you can check out here a more detailed article on the subject.

The venture's Green Technology Zone includes devices that require smaller amounts of power in order to operate, while the quality of the displayed images remains unaffected. The products pertaining to this particular area are a low power 42-inch LCD panel for full HD LCD TVs with adaptive backlight dimming control to reduce power consumption by 50 percent, a 42-inch LCD panel for full HD LCD TVs with LCD Picture Improvement Solution (LpiS) technology, which offers reduced power consumption and high resolution picture quality, a 13.3-inch wide XGA LCD for notebook computers as well as 15.4-inch LCD panel for notebook computers.

And since we're on the subject of displays designed for notebook computers, we should move on to IT Technology Zone. Here, the company has come up with a 17-inch LCD with electronically driven LCD lens that switches to a 3D display, a 22-inch LCD and 15.4-inch Wide LCDs for IT applications, featuring LG.Philips LCD's proprietary Anti-Pollution Polarizer (APP) technology that resists fingerprints and other marks 14.1-inch Wide LCD with Viewing Angle Image Control, which protects users from exposing personal information while using the screen.

We are just a few, but there are many of you, Softpedia users, out there. That's why we thought it would be a good idea to create an email address for you to help us a little in finding gadgets we missed. Interesting links are bound to be posted with recognition going mainly to those who submit. The address is .
