It could really save your iPod investment

Even if it may sound silly, there really are people who are deeply, truly, madly in love with their iPods and carry them everywhere... and I'm not speaking about waking around but going to the pool, under shower and all the similar situations. Yes, their iPods go almost anywhere and this is why in a lot of situations they are in real danger, of being flushed down the toilet or ending their glamorous existence at the bottom of the swimming pool.

[admark=1]Well, someone has seriously thought about the potential plights in the everyday life of the iPod and has managed to come up with a solution to end all fears: it's the Atlantic Ego, with their new IceBar2 waterproof, anti-shock, loudspeaker case for the iPod. We're talking a fairly small and sturdy case made from crystal-clear plastic, in which you will tenderly lay your beloved PMP and batteries, and which will allow you to enjoy your music and even videos while comfortable relaxing under the shower or in the pool. And yes, it also floats!

The concept itself is very neat, protecting the player from dust and accidental scratches and from the biggest enemy of all electronic devices, water. Even more, the IceBar2 sports a shock-absorbing cushion for your iPod, as it seems like having a crash-resistant box inside which the iPod will shatter upon impact was not the best idea.

The case is fabricated from a high-transparency plastic which will not impede you at all if you feel like watching some videos while bathing. The most intriguing specs from Atlantic Ego is the "big sound with expansive bass" and the "waterproof bass venting port": if there is someone who can enlighten me, please do - how can a bass vent, (read bass reflex opening) be waterproof? Is there an energy shield preventing water from going inside and wrecking things?

Anyway, the IceBar2 is really cool, if you're the kind of iPod owner who keeps tossing it around and splashing it with water, beer and other liquids. Coming with a headphone plug as well, the new box will retail starting April for around $69.
