What used to look good now looks great

Boston Acoustics has recently presented at the CES 2008 their new line of car amplifiers for this year, the new, revamped GT series. After the 2007 GT series received a very warm welcome and people around the world have thoroughly enjoyed their performance, it was time for some upgrades relating to the overall look and the tech side, the invisible, but oh-so-audible part.[admark=1]

And since Boston Acoustics aren't at all some noobs in the field, the new GT series amplifiers has proved to be an even better piece of tech than the previous models.

The first thing you'll notice about the new Boston Acoustics GT amps is their redesigned "face", with brushed aluminium panels and massive, cast aluminium heatsinks on the sides, now removable. The heat dissipation in the new 2008 GT amps is more efficient as all the cooling fans are digitally controlled and this allows for a very good thermal transfer, regardless of the positioning of the amp: you can now place the Boston Acoustics amps horizontally or vertically and even upside down, as the cooling parameters will be the same.

The outside of the amps can be custom painted so these units will perfectly match the style of your ride, no matter what that style is. The amps sport the Q-Tune onboard crossover which allows you to adjust the performance specs of these amps according to your needs; this feature is especially useful when combined with the ultra-low impedance setups: the 2008 GT amps can easily drive loads as low as 1 Ohm or 2 Ohms (bridged) so they're also very versatile, being compliant even with subwoofers.

The GT5500 is the series' highest model and it is able to drive simultaneously 4 channels (rear and front) with 50W power while at the same time delivering 300W for the subwoofer on the fifth channel. Announced prices as following, starting shipping during spring 2008:

GT5500 5-Channel Amplifier 50w x 4 (4-ohm) & 300w x 1 (2-ohm) MSRP $899.95
