After successfully running Apple as CEO for a full year, Tim Cook is proud to address all employees with a memo that reminds them what the company is all about, and that their major win in the patent war with Samsung was about values, not money.

After deliberating for almost a full day, the jury selected to hear the stories of Apple and Samsung in a fierce spat over patented technologies has reached a verdict that favors the Cupertino, California-based iPhone maker.

Apple will be getting in excess of 1 billion dollars, or about €840K, and Samsung promises to appeal the Court’s decision.

Until then, Tim Cook, Apple’s CEO, is pleased to announce that “Today was an important day for Apple and for innovators everywhere.”

The Apple boss sent a memo to all corporate employees, stating, “Many of you have been closely following the trial against Samsung in San Jose for the past few weeks.”

“We chose legal action very reluctantly and only after repeatedly asking Samsung to stop copying our work. For us this lawsuit has always been about something much more important than patents or money. It’s about values,” he said.

Cook emphasizes value, originality and innovation throughout the memo, adding that everyone at Apple “poured [their] lives into making the best products on earth.”

“And we do this to delight our customers, not for competitors to flagrantly copy,” he said.

Cook didn’t forget to say thanks to the jury for reaching what Apple believes was the right conclusion.

“The jury has now spoken. We applaud them for finding Samsung’s behavior willful and for sending a loud and clear message that stealing isn’t right.”

“I am very proud of the work that each of you do. Today, values have won and I hope the whole world listens,” ends the memo signed “Tim.”
