A luxury product with advanced features

The Runco company is not exactly very famous in the mainstream consumer segment of the display solution market, since most of its products are typically targeting the luxury segment. And that seems to be the case with Runco's latest announcement from CEDIA, namely the one regarding the VideoXtreme VX-8 Projector, which delivers top of the line features at a price point to match.

One of the reasons why the VX-8 is so expensive is the fact that it provides very advanced video processing capabilities, via the company's DHD with Vivix, three SuperOnyx DMDs and Runco's exclusive super-widescreen 2.35:1 CineWide technology. Additionally, the ConstantContrast technology offers frame-by-frame contrast correction, while Runco's CorrectColor delivers complete color calibration. The VX-8 also includes an ISFccc calibration system for top image performance in any ambient light conditions during the day or at night.

This projector is clearly created for installation purposes only, and Runco has offered professional installers quite a high level of flexibility, since the device features seven primary lens options, three CineWide lens choices and two CineWide with AutoScope choices. Moreover, for increased convenience, the VX-8 features a new low-noise cabinet design, updated Proteus lenses, increased power AxiShift for added installation flexibility, high-altitude operation and lamp life of up to 2,500 hours.

The 1080p/24-compatible VX-8 features extensive connectivity, including multiple HDMI inputs, as well as several other connectors, which are quite enough to allow users to connect the projector to just about any type of high-definition video signal.

As mentioned right from the title, Runco's VideoXtreme VX-8 Projector is a very expensive product, selling for around 20,000 US dollars, which means that it will most likely appeal especially to those customers with little (if any) regard for their bank accounts.
