Apple has issued an official announcement confirming that orders for the CDMA iPhone 4 will be available through Apple on February 9th. However, the official carrier of the new-breed iPhone is kicking off pre-orders as soon as tomorrow.

Apple’s official announcement is available below:

Apple today announced an exclusive opportunity for Verizon Wireless’ 94 million customers to pre-order iPhone 4 online beginning on Thursday, February 3 through the Apple Store (www.apple.com) and at www.verizonwireless.com/iphone. Due to high demand, customer orders will be fulfilled on a first come, first served basis.

Beginning on Wednesday, February 9, all qualified customers will be able to order an iPhone 4 on Verizon through the Apple Store (www.apple.com) for delivery or reserve for in-store pick up beginning February 10.

Customers flocking to their local Apple retail store on February 10th, will be able to grab a Verizon iPhone starting with 7 a.m, Apple said.

The CDMA-compatible iPhone will also be served to customers visiting one of the 2,000 Verizon Wireless Communication Stores nationwide, the Cupertino giant added.

Apple’s press release continues with a brief description of the iPhone 4 which has changed since the smartphone’s debut last year to describe a few new additions typical to the model sold through Verizon.

Cupertino explains that Verizon Wireless customers will be able to enjoy new Personal Hotspot capabilities, which allows them to use their iPhone 4 to connect up to five Wi-Fi enabled devices.

What Apple doesn’t mention in its report is that the CDMA iPhone 4 runs iOS 4.2.6, a new version of the company’s mobile operating system.

The IPSW restoration file is already available for free download.

The pricing on this new iPhone is unchanged, compared to the GSM counterpart which runs on AT&T’s network in the U.S - $199 for the 16GB model and $299 for the 32GB model with a new two-year agreement.

Update: article updated to correct statements regarding the order and pre-order availability of the CDMA iPhone 4 from Apple and Verizon Wireless.
