Video game developer CD Projekt RED has announced that it has launched a pre-download for the upcoming Enhanced Edition for The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings, which will allow those playing the game on the PC to get the 10 GB of data that will upgrade the game to version 2.0.

The final game files will be automatically downloaded on April 17, allowing gamers to run the game and see the changes that have been made to the action role-playing game.

The Enhanced Edition of The Witcher 2 will have two new major quests for players to explore, a new intro movie, more cutscenes and a number of significant changes made to the core game mechanics.

Newcomers will also get to play an extensive tutorial and CD Projekt RED has also added an exclusive arcade arena in the 10 GB upgrade for their role-playing game.

The developers have a long history of launching free enhancements for their video games and a 2.0 versions of their first Witcher title was released in order to satisfy the fans and address all issues they have reported.

Przemyslaw Wojcik, who is the head of Quality Assurance at CD Projekt RED, stated, “The Enhanced Edition gives players around 4 hours of new adventures, 35 minutes of new cut-scenes and cinematics and much more. Many fans just can’t wait to get their hands on the new content we have prepared.”

He added, “To allow PC users to start playing as soon as possible we started a pre-download program. If you encounter any problems, please write about them on thewitcher.com. Our team reads your comments and solves them as soon as possible.”

The Witcher 2: Assassin’s of Kings is set to also arrive on the Xbox 360 home console one the same day, with a new control scheme and with a number of graphics upgrades.
