Last week’s episode of “Amazing Race” on CBS got viewers and war veterans extremely hot under the collar for using a war monument like it was a regular set prop. Host Phil Keoghan has just apologized, The Hollywood Reporter informs.

The controversy began when contestants were shown at the B-52 memorial in Hanoi, Vietnam, looking for clues as to their next challenge.

Various Fox News anchors and The Veterans of Foreign Wars reacted immediately, saying it was absurd and extremely disrespectful to have producers use a war memorial as if it was a prop.

CBS is yet to say anything officially on the matter, but Keoghan did all the talking for them in the opening scene of the newest episode.

“Parts of last Sunday's episode, filmed in Vietnam, were insensitive to a group that is very important to us – our nation's veterans,” he said.

“We want to apologize to veterans, particularly those who served in Vietnam, as well as to their families and any viewers who were offended by the broadcast. All of us here have the most profound respect for the men and women who fight for our country,” he added.
