Patricia Arquette says CBS canceled “Medium,” network is still to confirm

It’s been an amazing, 7-year ride for Patricia Arquette and the family drama / investigative series “Medium.” Though an official announcement is still pending, the star says the show has been canceled and will end after just 2 episodes.

This has been a rather bad year for “Medium,” with ratings going down by a lot, which has prompted the network to cut down the number of episodes ordered from the new season.

Season 7 has been reduced to just 13 episodes from the standard 22 – and Arquette says it will also be the last since the network has canned the show, Entertainment Weekly reports.

“Though CBS cut the episodic order on Medium from 22 to 13 last month, the network has not said whether the drama has officially been canned. But star Patricia Arquette is saying as much,” EW reports.

According to the star herself, the cast and producers have been notified about the cancelation – and they now have only 2 episodes left to shoot.

Either way, if it’s any consolation for the fans, Arquette promises the grand finale will be something to remember and that “Medium” won’t leave without a bang.

“I was trying to get information from the writers about the last episode. I don’t know what it’s going to be, but they’re really excited about it,” Arquette explained for EW.

“They’re like, `we’re just going to burn the whole thing down!’ I’m really excited,” she added, while stressing that she wasn’t happy about the cancelation.

“It’s been a great time. I love that time in my life,” the actress explained. As noted above, so far, the network has remained mum on the topic of the cancelation.

EW also notes that “Medium” currently averages 7.1 million viewers when it airs on Fridays at 8 p.m. and, though ratings for it have declined considerably in recent months, it still manages to rank first in the 18-49 demographic for that timeslot.
