Samsung may be the current leader, but it will have a race on its hands soon

Flexible displays are something that were little more than a myth for a long time, but they are definitely real now. They have been for a few years.

OLED has proven to be the most prone towards working while also staying malleable.

That is why Samsung is, at present, the main driving force behind the flexible OLED industry.

Obviously, the company intends to hold that spot, but it might not be so easy.

According to IHS iSuppli, the OLED market will grow quickly. In fact, it will quadruple by the end of 2014.

Obviously, Samsung will benefit from this. What it might not manage to do is stay dominant. It is bound to have rivals after all, especially in the form of LG.

Then again, Samsung may just as well patent most of the relevant technologies and establish a sort of monopoly. It's not likely to happen, given the existence of regulatory bodies that prevent such things, but it might manage to keep its challenges to a minimum.
