Verizon has just introduced a new offer for the DROID 3, which is meant to boost the smartphone's sales.

Customers who purchase a Motorola DROID 3 for $199.99 with a new two-year agreement will receive another one for free. However, the second device that is offered for free requires a two-year activation, as well.

It appears that the Verizon's “Buy One, Get One Free” (BOGO) promotion is limited to one device per order, so those who wish to get more than two devices must place separate orders to take advantage of additional promotions.

On related news, Amazon is offering the same device at a much better price, as customers can purchase the DROID 3 for just $69.99 with a new two-year contract.

Even when purchasing two DROID 3 units, Amazon's deal is much better than Verizon's, which offers two DROID 3 smartphones for $199.99, while Amazon's promo requires customers to pay only $140 for two DROID 3 phones.

Motorola DROID 3 has just been unveiled by Verizon and can be purchased for $459.99 off-contract.

The DROID 3 comes with a large 4.0-inch capacitive touchscreen with 16 million colors support and 540 x 960 pixels resolution.

The smartphone features a full slide-out QWERTY keyboard, along with tTouch-sensitive controls, accelerometer sensor for UI auto-rotate and proximity sensor for auto- turn-off.

Hardware-wise, DROID 3 is equipped with a dual-core 1GHz TI OMAP4 processor and packs 16 GB of internal memory, 512 MB of RAM, as well as microSD card slot for memory expansion (up to 32GB).

The phone is powered by Android 2.3 (Gingerbread) and is delivered with a plethora of apps, including Google's full suite (Google Search, Maps, Gmail, YouTube, Google Talk), Quickoffice document editor, and Adobe Flash 10.3 support.

The slider's standard 1540 mAh Li-Ion battery should provide up to 300 hours of standby time or up to 9 hours of talk time.
