Burnout is one of the most successful arcade racing and destruction games out there, with its developer, Criterion Games, gaining critical acclaim for the innovative use of destructible environments and vehicle physics in this franchise.

Such was the case with the latest addition to the series, Burnout Paradise, which gave players the chance to race across Paradise City, in exotic cars and engage in thrilling and epic crashes across the massive road network of the city. The company announced some time ago that a PC version of this game is under development but didn't mention anything clear concerning the release date.

Recently, Criterion has announced the plans for releasing a special edition of the racing game, entitled Burnout Paradise The Ultimate Box. This special edition will feature all of the DLC packs which launched for the games, like new cars or races, and will be coming to the PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 in February 2009, marking the debut of the title on the PC platform.

“Whether you're an experienced player or a gaming novice, Burnout Paradise is a game that anyone can enjoy,” says Pete Lake, senior producer at Criterion Games. “With The Ultimate Box, we aimed to deliver the most fun, high quality and high value experience possible to players both online and in the living room.”

The company also held a Halloween party where it showcased a few features that the development team had been working on, primarily the Party mode which would allow players to engage in offline eight player challenges, with gamers passing the controller between them. This new mode will be available starting February 2009 as part of the Ultimate Box.
