It's been quite a long time since the Japanese company Casio has become a very strong name on the industrial market; electronic products from Casio have been pleasing customers all over the world for roughly three decades now, be those products luxury or sport watches, keyboards and all sorts of music/sound related gear.

Electronic keyboards are usually friendly objects and totally harmless; it looks like this changed a bit lately, as customers have reported fire hazard in one of Casio's electronic keyboards. The company has checked and tested the complaints and their reason and decided that the reports were true: there has been detected a smoke and/or fire hazard in the CK-710 series.

Casio has received so far 5 reports describing overheating, including two which caused a fire and caused property damage. However, Casio have managed to find out exactly what caused such behavior and have also isolated the component and the products affected by this defective engineering. Products with serial numbers 7030001 - 7040400 and 7041901 - 7043500 are recalled for a free repair service from the company.

Owners can find the serial number inside the battery compartment on the underside of the keyboard. Casio states that if your product is not within the above-stated range, there is no need for any further action and makes it clear that no other products are affected by this recall. The company also advises all CK-710 (product numbers comprised in the ranges above) to stop using the keyboard immediately, unplug it from any electrical socket and remove batteries (if any).

Casio also asks the customers to arrange a free repair by filling out this form and in no case take their keyboards to the shops they were bought from. Casio (by UPC) will pick up and ship the keyboards on their own expenses as will send them back to the customers in approximately one week after receiving them, in full working conditions and of course, repaired such as all risks to be eliminated. As well, the warranty for the Casio keyboards will be extended with the amount of time spent between sending and returning dates.
