Jeffrey Scott Morrison, a 47-year-old man from Saint Petersburg, Florida was arrested on Christmas Eve after calling the emergency services in an attempt to hitch a ride to the bus station. The man kept calling 911 but wouldn't talk, determining officers to go and investigate the problem.

A police unit was dispatched to the area where the calls were coming from, Cusick Road and Alcoa Highway. Dispatchers receiving the calls told officers that the caller seemed to be arguing with a clerk from Americas Best Value Inn over a cab ride, but each time he called he wouldn't talk.

When questioned, the Inn's clerk said he didn't know where the man was, because he had finally left, but that he was a motel guest, and offered officers Morrison's information. When the cops searched the establishment, they couldn't find the man so they decided to start asking around.

They stumbled upon another guest of the motel, Peter T. Neru who told them that someone went through his car, searching for valuables in the glove box and trunk, unwrapping a couple of Christmas gifts he had in his vehicle but leaving no traces of forced entry, notes The Daily Times.

When Mr. Neru was complaining about the unfortunate event, another neighbor came and told officers that the man they are looking for is Mr. Morrison, as he earlier witnessed him going through the victim's car with all the doors opened.

Officers were then informed that the alleged burglar was at the airport asking a clerk for the Tennessee Highway Patrol's phone number. After being apprehended and asked about the reasons for the several 911 calls, the man admitted to trying to catch a ride to the bus station.

Jeffrey Morrison was arrested for misusing the 911 emergency services system and charged in connection to a vehicle burglary, after the officers looking for him took statements from the affected neighbor and the witness. The burglar was held on bail until he will face his official court hearing.
