Cooperative raids and strikes are quite popular

Bungie reveals that the new goal in terms of its Destiny online first-person shooter is to bring players together, highlighting that the Vault of Glass cooperative raid is one of the most impressive experiences in the title right now.

Destiny launched earlier this year across the PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, and Xbox One platforms, finally delivering the long-awaited multiplayer-only first-person shooter experience. Unfortunately for fans, the title didn't exactly live up to the huge amount of hype surrounding its release, as many were disappointed with its repetitive gameplay or the dull story.

Developer Bungie has since taken this feedback to heart and rolled out a wide array of patches and updates designed to improve the gameplay, and it has also pledged to tell more engaging stories with the different expansions set to appear for Destiny, such as the upcoming The Dark Below.

Bringing players together is a priority

According to Bungie's Chief Operating Officer, Pete Parsons, the new goal with Destiny is to get players together and have them experience things as a group, instead of alone.

The developer explains to GamesIndustry that, right now, shining a spotlight on the public events is crucial, as it increases the amount of fun people can have in Destiny.

"One of the things we've always said from the beginning was that anything that is fun to do is more fun to do with or in front of your friends and that we would always try to slope the floor to bringing people together. We put a bunch of systems in place - everything from the more obvious public events or co-operative matchmaking and maybe even to the less obvious where if you fire off a super, orbs come out and that literally brings people together," he says.

The Vault of Glass is great proof

According to Parsons, the Vault of Glass six-man raid that launched after the game went live is the living testimony that players can have a great time. He himself describes one playthrough with someone who had experience and was acting as a guide for the rest.

"I've been through before - but went through with a guy who was effectively an experienced guide. Just hearing the conversation he had and how he was managing the group was absolutely fascinating. 'OK everybody hold here, if you look over to your left...' It was kind of fun to just kind of go along for the ride and hear the conversation that was happening."

As such, you can expect other Destiny updates and expansions to continue focusing on these cooperative and public events so that people can have fun together.
