The development team at Bungie might be busy putting the finishing touches on its upcoming Destiny, but the company still has time to answer questions from fans and to talk about its plans for the Gamescom 2014 event and the information that it might offer about the title.

In an official update, the studio offers a bit more information on its development process and on how it has changed the name of some in-game activities from Patrols to Exploration and why it has chosen to make that move.

Bungie answers a question from a user by saying, “Names change. Sometimes they change on a whim. Sometimes they change as a result of impassioned feedback and careful soul-searching. Sometimes they even change back. We’re willing to wager that your name wasn’t always Admiral Apricot – and that it isn’t always that all the time.”

The company also says that it has some big plans for the Gamescom 2014 event, which takes place in Cologne, Germany, during this week, and that more details will be offered about the game, especially given that much of the attention of the player base will be focused on the company.

On the issue of how the Moon area was designed, the studio answers a question about the presence of birds by explaining that “You’re taking the slang term for ‘satellite’ waaay too literally. Those birds did not come from the Moon.”

Destiny is at the moment set to be launched on September 9 on the PlayStation 4, the Xbox One, the PS3, and the Xbox 360.

The developers and Sony have reached a deal, which means that exclusive content will be offered on its consoles for about one year.

All players will be able to enjoy a unique blend of first-person shooter core mechanics that are combined with elements from the role-playing and the massive multiplayer online genres.

Bungie has offered an alpha and a beta stage for the title and says that both testing stages were very useful because they allowed the company to see how the core concepts were working and if the infrastructure was ready to hold up to the pressure of the official launch.

Bungie has also recently said that the characters that gamers have used until now in Destiny will be wiped and that the same thing will also happen to their Vaults, because the title has seen too many changes for them to function properly.
