Work doesn't mean new content

Bungie is a studio that has been through a lot of things lately. After developing a hugely successful franchise for Microsoft, Halo, it split with the huge corporation and is now following its own internally developed projects to fruition. But this doesn't mean that new content for Halo won't arrive, as the Mythic Map Pack will soon be hitting the Xbox Live Marketplace.

Besides this, the expansion to Halo 3, entitled ODST, will arrive in fall, offering players a series of brand new adventures set in the Halo universe. But if we are to take into account producer Allen Murray, who revealed last week that more Halo 3 content would arrive, as his studio would be working on it for three more years, a lot of new things will be made.

Unfortunately, that is not true, according to the studio, which told Eurogamer that its involvement in Halo 3 would be minimal after the Mythic map pack and the ODST expansion. The statement went on to highlight that the studio would make regular updates to the matchmaking system, but it wouldn't create new content.

“We'll never say never, but currently Bungie has no plans to make new Halo 3 content beyond the release of ODST,” read the statement. “We will, however, continue to support the Halo 3 online experience with regular updates to matchmaking playlists and wield the Banhammer as needed.”

The studio also highlights the importance of the Forge for the game, through which people create their own new expeirences. “With Forge and the Mythic map Sandbox we're already seeing the community stepping up to create some great new maps and gametypes that will offer more variety and longevity to the game down the road. The future of Halo 3 online will become more and more defined by the people who play it”

So there you have it, Halo fans, no new content will arrive from Bungie after ODST, so the anticipation needs to stop and you need to get back to creating new things in the Forge.
